It gives me great pleasure to compliment the efforts of the Field Director of Kamlang Tiger Reserve and her team to publish this book titled, “Kamlang Tiger Reserve, at a glance”. The diversity of topographical and climatic conditions has favored the growth of lush forests, which in turn serve as home to a number of plants and animals. Arunachal Pradesh is also home to a large number of ethnicities for whom these forests and wildlife hold special importance.
This pictorial handbook will prove to be highly useful for further research and raising the eco-tourism potential of Kamlang tiger reserve. The presence of a variety of species, especially some which are endemic to this region emphasizes the uniqueness, ecological attributes and environmental stability. The book also talks about the indigineous Mishmi community who have for centuries been dependent on these forests and share a close relationship with them.
Kamlang tiger reserve team has put serious efforts to bring together the available records in the form of this monograph which will surely be a hand guide for tourists, researchers and scientific community all alike. I hope more such documents are published in the future, upholding the rich heritage of Arunachal Pradesh forests.
